Young people are travelling the world in search of work, especially those hit by extremely high youth unemployment like Spain, Greece and Portugal.

Elias on Necker Island

There is one young Spanish guy on Necker called Elias who was working part time in a kitesurfing shop in the South of England and saw an order for six kites for Necker Island. The shop normally only sold six kites a month and so he asked who owned Necker Island and was told Richard Branson.
On asking 'who is Richard Branson?', it was suggested to him to look him up in the internet.
He liked the look of the island and quite liked what he read about yours truly and enclosed a letter in the boxes of kites that were being sent to Necker pitching for a job. Three months later he’s now working in the water sports department on Necker Island.
It goes to show it is always worth taking a chance and pitching for a position you may think is beyond your reach. Many of the best pitches come from surprising places and in surprising circumstances. Do you know of any other unusual pitches that have succeeded?
